Class Registration and Policies

  • Class size is limited; register early
  • Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Visa or MasterCard is available for your convenience if you would like to register by phone.
  • Class Fees will be refunded in full if a class is canceled. If you must cancel, a ten-day advance notice is required for a full refund. If you cannot attend, you are welcome to send a friend in your place.

Hand Quilting

Garden Collage

Using the popular raw-edge appliqué technique is a great way to construct pictorial quilts.  In this class you will learn the basic technique of fusing, layering and stitching while making a small collage quilt with a floral theme.

Beginning Foundation Piecing

Just the basics, maam!  Learn the foundation piecing technique in this class and you are on your way to many great quilts!  The paper or foundation takes care of all of the stretch in the fabric so you can make the sharpest points and have completely accurately pieced blocks.  And it’s loads of fun too!

Sassy Circles with a Twist

The Sassy Circles wall hanging sparkles through the use of spirited fabrics, gradation of color and value, and curved design elements. The block centers are paper pieced, the inner and outer pieces are cut with templates, and the curved borders are free-form cut. Judy is coming from the other side of the Cascades to teach us these wonderful techniques. ENROLL NOW! This class will fill very quickly.


The Gravity Quilt: Putting Piece-liqué to Work

By popular demand, Jae will be teaching you how to make an original quilt using the piece-lique technique. Gravity is an original art quilt by Jae McDonald, made of many different shades and prints of blue fabric, with golden circles "bending" space-time. This method is free-form, so the only templates we will need are circles cut from freezer paper. Gravity is a fun and easy quilt to make, and a great way to explore value through a very limited color palette. Students will choose their own color scheme, so everyone's piece will be unique. Students must have taken a Piece-lique class or be confident with the technique.

 

Delectable Mountains

Debby Caffrey’s book helps take the mystery out of triangles to create your own “Peak of the Season.” Let Kelly walk you through the mountains. A good class is hard to beat.


Hand Embellishment for Art Quilting

This two-part class will cover a variety of hand embellishing techniques, from basic beading to embroidery stitches that will add texture and visual interest to your art quilts.  We will explore bead-quilting, couching, French knots, basic hand-quilting with a variety of threads, seed stitch and other embroidery stitches, and basic ribbon embroidery stitches.

Oh My Stars!

Grab your brightest, your checks, your blacks and don’t forget your reds to make some wonderful free-form blocks.  What fun to work on something so wild and bright!  You will make several different blocks and then make filler blocks to fit them all together. A lot of time is allowed between classes so you can make lots of blocks!

Blueberry Cobbler

Blueberry Cobbler is a beautiful all-blue quilt.  Using just blue (or your choice of color), you will create an eye-catching quilt while learning how to mix values of one color.  You may choose to work with any combination of light, medium, or dark blue fabrics.  Of course, the recipe is included in your book. We’ll be sampling the recipe in class, also.

Crazy Stitchers Club

Meet every month for three months. A new class to explore stitches for your crazy quilts. We will meet once per month to sit and stitch six to eight new stitches per month. Practice what you know. Show off the stitches you have done. Get together with Kelly and the other crazy stitchers in the area. Learn new crazy quilt stitches together.

 

Double Wedding Ring

Design, then Paint with Inks

Learn how to design a quilt using an original photograph as the pattern. Transfer the pattern to fabric and bring it “alive” with fabric inks. Anyone can learn these techniques; no art lessons necessary! Create the art quilt you’ve always wanted. This piece can be abstract or realistic, the choice is yours.

 

Math for Quilters

This lecture demo class will explore simple ways to figure yardage for a quilt, backing, borders, etc.  It's not difficult when you know a few tricks.  Bring your calculator.  Math whizzes not allowed.

 

Fabric Painting Workshop

Ruth will walk you through the process of color mixing and application with Setacolor paints.  No experience necessary!  Create your own sky fabrics – the possibilities go on and on.  If you’ve been curious about fabric painting, this is a way to experiment, play, have fun and let us do the clean up!  Kit fee includes paint, brushes, fabric and other materials.

Stash Pot Pie Series

We have reserved the 4th Monday of each month for Stash Pot Pie.  You can choose to attend morning or evening – if we have enough interest we will add an afternoon session.  Each month we will make a different small quilt which can be made scrappy or not – your choice. (Quilts can very easily be made bigger by making more blocks, if you need a bigger quilt.)  The idea is to dig into your stash and see what you find!  You will receive a free pattern and a pie recipe at each class.  Once you have attended three classes in the Stash Pot Pie Series, the fourth class is free!

Blue Ribbon Winner

This traditional quilt, The Tennessee Waltz, has two different blocks  An uneven number of blocks in the horizontal and vertical rows gives this quilt a lot of visual movement. It looks as though it has curved seams – without your having to piece curved seams!  The result is a quilt that is surely a Blue Ribbon Winner!

A Chicken in every Pot

Traditionally, the simple Nine Patch Block has been a great way to use up scraps of fabric.  Here the Nine Patch gets a new lease on life, and a whole new look, when some of the patches are made from half square triangles.

Hot Pockets

Nothing’s easier to eat than a little “hand pie”  -- a pie with filling tucked inside and meant to be eaten right out of your hand!  Well, this quilt is just as easy and just as fun.  It’s made from Flying Geese units, a positive and negative combination of two fabrics sewn together along the base of the large triangles.  The blocks are then set on point.

Humble Pie

There’s nothing humble about this quilt.  Its traditional name is Exquisite, and indeed it is just that.  The Humble name applies only because the blocks are made with a simple sew & flip technique that make piecing fast and easy.

Beginning Landscape Quilt

Learn the beginning steps for creating interesting and realistic or abstract landscape quilts. Choose fabrics that represent textures of rocks, trees, water, and other landscape elements. Use a simple technique for applying them to a foundation or background. Quilt them for maximum effects. This class will produce a simple landscape quilt which you can build on to create any landscape you can dream up.

 

Crazy Quilting

We will start this class with the basics of piecing the blocks on a muslin foundation.  Next you will begin learning several basic stitches.  Bead work and other ways to embellish your quilt will also be discussed.  With enough interest, a follow up class can be scheduled.
